Myanmar
In 2015, I traveled through Myanmar for 30 days, discovering a country gradually opening up to the world after years of isolation.
At the time, Myanmar was emerging from decades of military rule. Although a civilian government had been in place, the military still held significant power. The country was experiencing a period of cautious optimism, visible not only in political changes but also in everyday encounters.
In regions that had long been closed to foreigners, the arrival of Western travelers was met with joy and curiosity. The Burmese people I met were eager to be photographed, sometimes treating our portrait sessions with a ceremonial reverence, as if capturing the moment meant preserving the spirit of newfound hope.
